D.C. and Alexandria Exploring

To continue our Auntie Kellie and Uncle Ben posts...here is the other fun stuff we did last month on our trip (besides slime making and playing with condiment bottles!)

This trip was over a month ago and V still talks about it almost daily. Just yesterday we were outside and she saw the letters "Rogue" on the back of Kyle's car and she said "R like Remi!" She loves Aunt Kellie's and Uncle Ben's pets...Remi, Nori and Atticus the cat. She talks about them a ton! If we hear an airplane outside it's always "like Auntie Kellie's house!" She and Auntie "jumped in muddy puddles" so if we do that here she remembers that.  She now thinks that if we have burgers for dinner that mac and cheese should accompany it because it did at their house (or vice versa...she was looking for a burger too last time I made mac and cheese). She has a sweet tooth like pretty much the whole rest of her family (besides Uncle Ben) and still talks about the 1/2 birthday cake she made with Kellie. AND don't get me started on the waffles we had the one morning we went out for breakfast... those are a daily topic of conversation and she asked for waffles for many mornings after that LOL

The petting zoo trip was a blast (even though I'm not a "zoo person") especially for V and Auntie (animal lover). We got carrots to feed all the animals and even rode a "bus safari" and animals came up to the windows. V went with Auntie to feed a giraffe with a super long tongue. Uncle Ben and I stayed away from that!! V loved how close the animals got to her!

We visited a bunch of cool parks around their house (with varying but mostly very very strong wind gusts! Kel and I have the worst weather luck) V loved going up and down the stairs/slides the most. No snow on these playgrounds so she was thrilled. Took another month for that to happen here in Wisconsin!

Tried to recreate a "Bus" bus kisses pic...will post both on Facebook!
We took a city bus for no other reason than Curious Miss V loves them HA! We had ridden one on our Chicago trip last year (see post here https://curiousmissv.blogspot.com/2019/04/the-very-windy-city-adventure.html) and she's been hooked. Every school bus we see it's "where is it going?" and she expects a legitimate answer...every....time... Any time Uncle Ben is mentioned she says "he likes buses"  and he even sent her a play city bus from his work!! She was thrilled.

We visited an American history museum in D.C. that had a kid's area (see the condiments post https://curiousmissv.blogspot.com/2020/03/curious-condiments.html) and lots of cool things to see/explore.

I think we all look alike in this pic?!

We did some baking for Violet's 1/2 birthday! Auntie and Uncle have been with her at both her 1st and 2nd birthdays and it has really meant a lot to her (and Kyle and I). They sure know how to make a 2 1/2 year old feel special!

Reading while waiting for her waffle at the restaurant LOL
AWWWWW

No...V does not know how to play Sequence...YES she knows how to make a big mess of all the pieces!
Lastly, since V and I shared a room...I got some pretty cute sleeping pictures. All the new sights and activities made her extra tired and she even "slept in" a few mornings!

We love you Auntie Kellie and Uncle Ben! And Remi...Nori...Atticus...

Auntie/Uncle Mushy-Gushy Slime

To wrap up our ooey-gooey-sticky-messy-fun series, here are some lovely pictures from our slime making adventure with Auntie Kellie and Uncle Ben when we visited Alexandria, VA in February!
Pouring in the glue

Miss V is a big fan of stirring anything we let her !
Food coloring!? Auntie is the best!

Deciding this is going to be very fun...
WOA!

It was mushy gushy and got all over. Uncle Ben found out he is great at getting slime off clothes! Several chunks ended up on the floor of course. Curious Miss V loved it! Held her attention way longer than play-dough. Auntie Kellie makes this on the regular with her child life patients. Another reason she is such a great auntie/ child life specialist!!

Mushy Gushy Painting Class Part 3

Our last few classes were around Valentine's Day and Curious Miss V got to experiment with a big ole' bottle of GLUE. She was in heaven and of course had to do it "all by myself."

I had to bite my teacher tongue from saying "dot dot not a lot!" She loved plopping a big glob on and putting hearts down for the "Tree" wherever she pleased!

Sticky fingers
She got to mold and paint some clay but didn't like the feeling when trying to squash her hand in it to make a hand print so it turned out more of just a blob LOL

Miss V loved both sensory activities in the last two classes...mini plastic beads for scooping and pouring and DIRT!

She pretended that the bowls had food in them and made me a whole meal of random stuff!

Making "muffins"

Love that smile!!
Curious Miss V definitely got more adventurous through the course of the class and overall really enjoyed it! Looking forward to getting outside in spring/summer and just seeing her explore!

Curious Condiments

This is the most random post ever!!! Curious Miss V has always been fascinated with tops/lids on containers and bottles and loves opening and closing them. Combine that with her love of ketchup and cooking and you get...a condiments post LOL!

We went to a museum when we visited Auntie Kellie and Uncle Ben in D.C. that had a kids area with a play kitchen. She made a beeline and created her own little condiment pouring station amongst all the other kids and chaos that comes with a Saturday at a museum. She seriously got to work!

While she also likes BBQ sauce we really haven't introduced her to others (unless syrup counts as a condiment) so to have all these options was very entertaining for this Curious girl.

There were several work interruptions as other kids came and tried to "share" the bottles. It definitely tested Miss V's 2 year old possessive qualities hehe. It's a good thing she is used to this from being at daycare!

Goofy girl
I was sitting at the "counter" on the opposite side of the work station and got to be the taste tester of all her cereal/oatmeal/soup covered with condiments concoctions! Such a fun/imaginative age we are at!
