Mushy Gushy Painting Class Part 2

Our next mushy gushy classes through the Park and Rec had a fun bubble painting project and some sand/water sensory table play! She loved all three!

I LOVE the "blowing a bubble" face that Curious Miss V has- LOL! She tries to blow all the air out of herself it seems like. Very serious!

Puffy cheeks

There was some "ice painting" too with a colored ice cube and Popsicle stick. This one was more just a mess as the ice melted all over.

Messy face
Miss V loved the sand when we went to Cape Cod on her first birthday and of course loved it during class. Especially since there were shovels and "scoopers" as she calls them!

Lastly, to wash off, kiddos played in a big water table with colored water that ended up all turning black! She always asks to get her water table out when we are in the shed but we obviously can't since it is winter so this was great fun!

Look Mom, I dumped it out!
Only 2 classes left: I'm sure more mushy-gushy-ness is on the way!

Mushy Gushy Painting Class Part 1

I signed Curious Miss V up for a sensory/play/art class through West Allis Park and Rec and we have had a few classes so far! My original thought was that maybe some more sensory play would help her be more willing to play in and touch snow because she really doesn't want anything to do with it! And, ironically the first class had a big bin filled with snow for kiddos to explore and play with. The shovels and cups were the key for Miss V. She loves scooping, dumping out, refilling anything...water, noodles, beans... so the fact that it was snow was secondary to the fun utensils.

Look at the grip on that cup! It was a popular "station" and V wanted to protect that cup from the other kids LOL

Her sole mission in that moment was filling the cup. So serious!
She was not such a fan of the shaving cream and corn starch bin...

Umm...what's this on my hand?

You want me to mush this and spread it around? I don't think so

Can we get this off my hand please?
There are always one or two different painting stations and we've used everything from bubble wands to sponges to toothbrushes and of course fingers as paint brushes! She has loved every painting project!

"violet" paint!

Glitter and glue project

Look what I made Mom! and look at her face...
She of course has gotten paint in her hair too!

The best part of this class besides watching V have an awesome time...I don't have to clean up the mess! Seriously the teacher is awesome...let's them do all this messy stuff and then does all the clean up. A Win Win!

Everybody do the Monster Boogie

Curious Miss V LOVES music and dancing, although she often gets shy doing it in front of others. She reserves her moves for Mom and Dad ;)

Violet's first babysitter who had her from 3 months til 10 months introduced us to Laurie Berkner, a kids singer. Violet's first favorite of hers was Pig on Her Head and that song was actually her "reward" for doing her business on the big girl potty when we first started potty training. So, we listened to it a million times!

She also loves We are the Dinosaurs and most recently The Monster Boogie which happens to be a book as well. Found that at the library a few weeks ago and it has also been read a million times!

Checking out all the monsters on the back to pick one to make.
We just had to make a monster like one from the book. The Youtube music video of the song is a bunch of kids making monster masks with various art materials. Will link at the end. So, I thought this would be a good time to break out the toddler scissors V got in her Xmas stocking. About time, right?!

Such concentration!
She chose an octopus looking monster so I drew the body on construction paper and had her decorate with stickers. Of course, she had to use food stickers LOL

We made a tail and some teeth with different color paper. She used the scissors for cutting both while I guided and held the paper ;)

She of course loves using glue sticks too.

She had to put some finishing touches on with her markers which she seriously manages to get all over her hands and face every time she so much as touches one!

She kept "referencing" the book to see if there was anything her monster was missing.

And the finished product was shown to all relatives via video chat and is now hanging on the fridge next to "work" from school. She has been doing letter pages, tracing numbers and shapes... how did she get so old?!?!

Ta-Da!
She is a goofy, art project loving and reader extraordinaire!
