Everybody do the Monster Boogie

Curious Miss V LOVES music and dancing, although she often gets shy doing it in front of others. She reserves her moves for Mom and Dad ;)

Violet's first babysitter who had her from 3 months til 10 months introduced us to Laurie Berkner, a kids singer. Violet's first favorite of hers was Pig on Her Head and that song was actually her "reward" for doing her business on the big girl potty when we first started potty training. So, we listened to it a million times!

She also loves We are the Dinosaurs and most recently The Monster Boogie which happens to be a book as well. Found that at the library a few weeks ago and it has also been read a million times!

Checking out all the monsters on the back to pick one to make.
We just had to make a monster like one from the book. The Youtube music video of the song is a bunch of kids making monster masks with various art materials. Will link at the end. So, I thought this would be a good time to break out the toddler scissors V got in her Xmas stocking. About time, right?!

Such concentration!
She chose an octopus looking monster so I drew the body on construction paper and had her decorate with stickers. Of course, she had to use food stickers LOL

We made a tail and some teeth with different color paper. She used the scissors for cutting both while I guided and held the paper ;)

She of course loves using glue sticks too.

She had to put some finishing touches on with her markers which she seriously manages to get all over her hands and face every time she so much as touches one!

She kept "referencing" the book to see if there was anything her monster was missing.

And the finished product was shown to all relatives via video chat and is now hanging on the fridge next to "work" from school. She has been doing letter pages, tracing numbers and shapes... how did she get so old?!?!

Ta-Da!
She is a goofy, art project loving and reader extraordinaire!
